New blog categories

So I thought it would be fun to expand my movie review blog to include categories other than the current "Film" category, such "On DVD," "Writer Spotlight (movie marathon suggestions)," and "Madeleine's Film Lab (trailer experiments)."

With "On DVD," I'll review films you (and I) may have missed while they were out in theaters, or those that I think you, dear movie fans, would enjoy seeing again. This category features its own rating system:

- Add it to your collection
- Worth full rental price
- Good “rainy day” flick
- Use a rental coupon
- Not even free from the library

I started with The Motorcycle Diaries (see post below). Coming soon: Little Miss Sunshine and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang reviews, as well as blogs in the other categories mentioned above....

Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy my review of a great foreign film about revolutionary Che Guevara.

My Big Debut

Greetings, fellow movie lovers! I am Madeline the Movie Maven; welcome to my movie reviews blog. I’m no industry insider but I see dozens of movies every year, from mainstream to indies to foreign flicks. I know what I like, and I know what I don’t. But then, don’t we all.

Before I share my first review with you, I will make two promises: (1) I will try very hard not to reveal too much about any movie I review and (2) I will always say what I liked and didn’t like about the film, which I believe are standard ingredients of a fair critique.

Now let’s talk about ratings. As someone who craves originality, I’ve decided to chuck the conventional "stars" method and invent my own. It's pretty self-explanatory:
- I’d pay to see it twice!
- Worth full price
- Matinee
- Rental
- Not even for free

Something to remember: We all have different tastes. So, take my opinions with the proverbial grain of salt. You’ll soon find out if I say "tom-aaa-toe" and you say "tom-ah-toe", or if we both put ketchup on our scrambled eggs.
